My Last Christmas Count Down Task (Christmas Research Centre Challenge)

This Week the Whetu Team is doing a new thing and it called The Christmas Countdown. It's about doing Christmas Tasks and they are Christmas writing Challenge, Wreath Design, Christmas Research Centre Challenge and the last one Christmas Wrapping Paper. The one that I chose was the Christmas Research Centre and I chose this one because It was my last one to do and that we could do it on paper. For this task, we had three levels, Rudolf level, Elf level, and The Santa Level and I did the Elf level this time. I picked the Elf level because you could do Reseach on how people in other countries celebrate Christmas. I picked the country China because I thought that other countries celebrate Christmas the same as we do in NZ. The hardest thing was sticking the research onto my poster. The easiest thing was cutting out the picture of Christmas in China.   

My Third Christmas Count Down Task (Christmas Writing Challenge)

This Week the Whetu Team is doing a new thing and it called The Christmas Countdown. It's about doing Christmas Tasks and they are Christmas writing Challenge, Wreath Design, Christmas Research Centre Challenge and the last one Christmas Wrapping Paper. The one that I chose was the Christmas Writing Challenge and I chose this one because I thought that it would be kind to write a letter to a person that ha looked after you this year. For this task, we had three levels, Rudolf level, Elf level, and The Santa Level and I did the Elf level this time. I picked the Elf level because you could make a Letter to a person that has looked after you this year or write a letter to Santa. I picked to write a letter to a person that has looked after me this year. The hardest thing was thinking of a word that started with H because I couldn't think of anything that made sense. The easiest thing was thining of a word of Y because the perfect sense just poped into my head.   

My Second Christmas Count Down Task (Christmas Wrapping Paper)

This Week the Whetu Team is doing a new thing and it called The Christmas Countdown. It's about doing Christmas Tasks and they are Christmas writing Challenge, Wreath Design, Christmas Research Centre Challenge and the last one Christmas Wrapping Paper. The one that I chose was Designing Christmas Wrapping Paper and I chose this one because I thought that it would be cool trying to make Wrapping paper bast on NZ. For this task, we had three levels, Rudolf level, Elf level, and The Santa Level and I did the Santa level this time. I picked the Santa level because I thought since I did the lowest level on my first task that I would challenge myself and pick the highest level. The hardest thing was trying to think of what NZ thing that I would do next. The easiest thing was making the corn on the cob.

My First Christmas Countdown Task (Wreath Design)

This Week the Whetu Team is doing a new thing and it called The Christmas Countdown. It's about doing Christmas Tasks and they are Christmas writing Challenge, Wreath Design, Christmas Research Centre Challenge and the last one Christmas Wrapping Paper. The one that I chose was Designing a Wreath and I chose this one because I thought it would be fun trying to decorate a Wreath. For this task, we had three levels, Rudolf level, Elf level, and The Santa Level and I did the Rudolf level. I did the Rudolf level because I liked the picture because it was simple and really colorful. The hardest thing was making the bow on the wreath. The easiest thing was designing the ordnances on the sides.

The End of The Whetu Survivor!

This Week the Whetu Team has finished Whetu Survivor. I think Whetu Survivor was FUN and now we are doing the Final rotation. They are Making Fire, Orienteering and Making delicious food. Here is a Dimension about my time doing my last rotation for Survivor.

Making A Fire

For my first rotation, I and The Brainiacs did Fire Making. First, we got into our Troops and Mrs. Kennedy Picked a troop that can try and makes a tepe shape out of sticks. Also, Mrs. Kennedy picks a different Troop to try and make a spark with the flint and steel. The Tuataras (My Group) got to try and make a tepe shape with sticks and The Keas got to try and make a spark with the flint and steel. For making the fire shape we had to find some little sticks in the mountain of sticks that Mrs. Kennedy found. It was kind of tricky to find the right sticks and to make the right shape so it doesn't fall over. After we got the right shape we had to put all the sticks back into the pile and let the other troops have a turn. When the Keas all had a turn of making a spark my Troop had a turn it was pretty hard to make a spark because you had to push really hard but I was lucky and made a spark. When everyone had a turn at Making a tepe shape with the sticks and making a spark with the flint and steel Mrs. Kennedy tried to make a real fire we tried everything but it just didn't work but it was okay because I liked this rotation.

Making Delicious Food

 For my second rotation, The Brainiacs went to Mrs. Heaven and Made Food the first thing that we made was a banana dessert this is how it was made you get a banana and cut it on the side with a knife and made it like a shape of a triangle. Then you get some marshmallows and chocolate chips and stuff them in the banana. Then you rap it up with tinfoil also make it really tight. Then you put it in a pizza oven or a normal oven. Then you wait until you think it's cooked enough. Then you get a banana dessert. The second thing that we cooked was a baked potato and this is how you make this. You get a potato and get a knife and cut it on the side of the potato. Then you get some cheese and ham and then you put it on the part where you cut on the potato. then you bake it in an oven and then you get a baked potato. If I could rate the banana dessert out of 10 I would make it a 5/10 because I didn't really like it that much but it was ok. If I could rate the baked potato out of 10 I would make it 10/10 because I think it was really yummy. 

Orienteering

For my Last rotation, The Brainiacs did Orienteering. First, we had to get into own Troops and get a map of the whole school and a piece of paper. We had to try and find clues around the school. To find the clues there were little diamonds that show where clues were hidden. It was kind of hard but our Troop got all the clues but we didn't get the answer and the answer was B - U - R - R - I - T - O Burrito. Even if my Troop didn't get the answer I still had fun. The hardest thing about this rotation was tried to get the answer. The easiest thing about this rotation was finding the clues.

Chapter Chat Week 6/7 Term 4 FABULOUS FINISH

This Term The Whetu Team has finished the book GHOST. I loved the ending because of Ghost (Castle Cranshaw) he stopped getting into trouble and Coach Brody (Ots Brody) always had Ghost's back. My favourite part of the book was when Coach Brody paid for the shoes that Ghost stole from the shop Everything Sports. Coach Brody was so kind to Ghost. Anyway, for my Fabulous Finish, I did a Sunny but I didn't do something that anyone else did I did a sun for Sunny because if you split his name half it would make Sun. I picked to do Sunny for my Fabulous Finish because he was always happy and he didn't do anything bad. The hardest thing was thinking of information to put on the sun. The easiest thing was cutting out Sunny's name.       

Survival Backpack

This week for the Brainiacs Survival Challenge we had to make a Survival backpack and put items that you would put in your backpack and give a description for each item. I hardest thing was thinking of things that would be important to have in your backpack. The easiest thing was adding the pictures.

 Finding Freshwater

1. you have to find an area that gets a lot of sunlight. 

2. Dig a bowl-like pit wide by deep.

 3. Follow a stem and it normally lends to freshwater.

Shelter 

1 Make sure that you're not by a waterfall because the water might wash the shelter away.

2 build your shelter on flat ground. 

 3 Make sure that your Shelter is secure.

Fire

1 You need dry firewood. 

2 don’t be by a river because it might Flash onto your fire.

 3 Make sure it's on flat ground because it might tip over.

Basic First Aid 

1 Plasters.

2 Band-aids.

Signaling for help 

1. Torch.

2. Make a fire. 

3. Reflect light with a mirror.

Taylor B's Native Trees

For our Whetu Survivor task, the Brainiacs are going to choose an NZ New Native Tree or Plant and research about. I chose the Nikau Palm Tree because It didn't look like the other Trees it was different. 

I found out what the Scientific name is for the Nikau Palm Tree is its Rhopalostylis Sapida. (I don't know how to say Rhapalostylis Sapida so that will be my challenge.)  The Species name is R. sapida and the Genus name is Rhopalostylis. So there is 3 similar names for the Nikau Plam Tree. 

The place that you would the Nilau Palm Tree the species endemic to mainland NZ.  Its natural range of coast and lowland forest on the North Island, and on South Island as far south as Okarito mostly in the state or class of being muggy (43*20'S) in the west and side point (43*5'S) in the east.

Chapter Chat Week 5 Term 3 Digital Design

For my Chapter Chat this week I did the Shoplifter Sign for Digital Design. I chose Digital Design because it was the final thing that I had to do to get all of the activity ticked off. The hardest thing was tracing over the shoe that Ghost stole. The easiest thing was making Ghost's avatar.  

Chapter Chat Week 5 Term 3 Creation Station

For my Chapter Chat this week I did the Gold Medal for Creation Station. I chose Creation Creation because it was my only one left. The hardest thing was drawing the gold medal. The easiest thing was drawing Ost Brody and his mum in Ost's bedroom. 

Chapter Chat Week 4 Term 4 Digital Design

For my Chapter Chat this week I did Digital Design Its an Advertising Poster for the book Ghost. I chose Digital Design because it was the only one that I had to do besides Creation Sation. The hardest thing was thinking of the Reasons to buy the book. The easiest thing was making the Before and After Avatars. Design

The best way to use Figure knot is if you need to join to fencing wires together on the farm.

My difficulty rating for the Figure 8 Knot is 9/10 because at first, I was looking at the wrong instructions because Mrs. Loft's and Mrs. Heaven's website wasn't working so I had to fend for myself.

The learning power that I used the most for this knot is being me because I had to find out how to do this knot myself because I had the wrong instructions.

The best way to use the Butterfly knot is if your Mum and Dad's car broke down and you call a toe truck and they can do the butterfly knot.

 My difficulty rating for the Butterfly Knot is 7/10 because at the start I couldn't do it but then I got the hang of it and got it right.

The learning power that I used the most for this knot is connecting because I asked people how to do this knot that a don't really talk to that much.

The best way to use Bowline knot is if you were on a camping trip and your closes were wet and you needed a washing line you could tie a Bowline know to two trees.

My difficulty rating for the Bowline Knot is 3/10 because this knot toke me two days to master.

The learning power that I used the most for this knot is resilience because it toke a long time and I didn't give up.     

Shelter Challenge Task 2 The Tent

Me and My Troop (The Tuataras) made a Tent together for our Shelter Task. I think that the hardest thing was working together because everyone wanted to do it there way. I think what worked well was at the end when we dissembled the tent because we had to read the instructions backwords. The thing that I learned that the person with the loudest voice isn't always right.

For my Chapter Chat this week I did A Way with Words Its Acrostic poem for Patina. I chose Patina because she is the main girl on the track team and that she goes to let anyone boss her around. The hardest thing was thinking of a word the starts with T. The easiest thing was doing the background and the font.

The shelters we are aiming to make are very simple and won't take very long to make. Both of our choices include the tarp and rope and we tie the rope between two trees and hang the tarp on top. Some of the key features the shelters have are that they wouldn't take long to

create and it could fit two people inside the shelter and protects you from the weather. The shelters are very similar but also have different features.

Q1. Where is the best place to build a Shelter?

First, you need to find a flat ground near two trees so you can tie your rope to broken branches or just to the trees. The key thing is to make sure that you're in a safe environment so you're safe from floods, rain storms or falling trees.

Q2. What does the shelter need to protect you from? The shelter would have to protect you from the weather and bugs.

Q3. What materials could you use to build a shelter?

The materials that we have to use is a tarp, a rope, and Trees.

Q4. What are some pros and cons of sleeping in a bush shelter?

The pros and cons of sleeping in a shelter are that if you are sleeping overnight the best thing that would happen would probably be that you have a peaceful night and that there are no bugs. The worst thing that would happen would be that you stay up all night and bugs are in your hut the whole night.

Chapter Chat Week 2 Term 4 Research Centre

For my Chapter Chat this week I did Research On Shoe Brands and  I learned that there's a shoe brand called FRYE and FRYE was made in 1863 and they make boots, shoes, and leather accessories. The hardest thing was putting the writing into my own words. The easiest thing for adding the shoes for decoration. Here is a LINK  for my slides.   

Calendar Art 2019

Last Term The Whetu made Calendar Art that you can make it into mousepads, Calenders, Sketchbooks and, Diaries. We had a chose of Zentagaling, Flower Cologne and Under Water Seen. The Hardest thing was coloring in the background. The Easiest thing was Stinking my picture on. What I would do next time I would change the color of the sand to skin color.

The Whetu Team has started a new book called Ghost but there are no ghosts in the book there's a boy called Castle Cranshaw and his nickname is Ghost. I did his Rap Sheet File and that's a file where they put all the things that you have done and one of the bad things that Castle has done is when he puched a boy for taling people he kissed a girl but didn't. The hardest thing was thin sharping the words. The easiest thing was drawing the border.   

My Holiday Blog Challenge Term 4 Week 1

School is back and I'm going to tell you about my holiday at the Karangahaka gorge and went on the windows walk. I went with my very close friends Amber, Kyle and there mum Shan. First, There was a lot of stairs but when I got up the stair a wave of relief went over my head. After the flat bits, we got to a very long bridge and I have a secret fere of bridges and then Kyle jumped on it and made it wobble. After a really long time of walking, we got to the very long tunnel It had lights on the top of it and there was a lot of black muck on the walls and I put my hands on the walls and my hands turned black. When we finished the walk we went to McDonald's in Paeroa and I had a Triple Cheese Burger Amber had the same and Kyle had a Big Mac. When everyone had finished there Burgers we went from a dip in the pool and then when we got out we went to there house and watched the movie Tooth Fairy.        

Best on the Block Film Review week 10

For my Best Blog on the Block, I did a Film Review and I was Kate Barlow, Ihi was The Warden, Paige was Zero/The Juge, Shelby was Madame Zeroni and Victoria was Stanley Yelnats and more people. The Film was really fun but it was really cold. because it started to rain. The hardest thing was trying to stay in charter because of Kate Barlow at the start she was nice and sweet but in the end, she was an outlaw. The Easiest thing was watching other people do there scenes.           

The Best Blog on the Block My Dream Holiday to Fiji Week 10

This week For my Best Blog on the Block I did My Dream holiday and that dream is to go to Fiji. I want to go to Fiji because I love the beach. The hardest thing was thinking of what to do the next day. The easiest thing was reaching the cost of the hotel and the costing surprised me because the costing is so LOW.

Chapter Chat Week 8/9 Term 3 FABULOUS FINISH

This week the Whetu team has finished the book holes. I loved the ending because of Stanley and Zero finely got out of Camp Green Lake and I liked how they climbed big tumb. (Big tumb is a mount en the looks like a big tumb on top of it.) Me and my friend Hannah it together we did X-ray (A character a the book and the mean one.) The Hardest thing was sticking the little flaps on. The easiest thing was coloring in the background.
